American Kennel Club
The American Kennel Club was founded in 1884, and is the nation’s leading authority on dog care, health, and happiness. As a not-for-profit organization, the AKC advocates for purebred dogs as family companions, advanced canine health and well-being, and works to protect the rights of all dog owners while promoting responsible dog ownership. In October 2009, AKC welcomed mixed breed dogs to their companion events, adding to a variety of AKC programs that already promote responsible dog ownership to ALL dog owners.
Since 2004, AKC has signed on more than 30 licensees, with over 200 branded products in the marketplace at over 5,000 retailers in North America. The AKC brand represents excellence and credibility for dog lovers. AKC’s continued growth in the pet segment provides consumers with confidence in the future of the brand.
