Pachanga

Pachanga is a distinctive collection of artwork, illustrations, drawings and designs created from the natural designs and color patterns found on the wings and bodies of over 300 different species of moths found in South America.

The Pachanga collection – Pachanga means festive party in Spanish – was created by Ecuadorian artist Belén Mena in 2003, when she became captivated by the intense colors and intricate patterns of several moths during one moonlit evening. She spent the next five years in the forests of Ecuador observing, photographing, drawing and cataloging the moths which served as the inspiration for this collection of illustrations and patterns.

The extensive Pachanga design bank, with its moth-inspired collection of imagery, has been featured in a book from German publishing house Schmidt Verlag, which has earned several honors including a prestigious Gold Award at the 2008 International Forum of Design competition, along with an Honorable Mention at the Art Directors Club Deutschland.

These incomparable and beautiful patterns translate effortlessly to fashion apparel, accessories, room décor, home furnishings, wallpaper, textiles and stationery, to name a few relevant categories.
